I really want to go on a nice picnic in the Columbus area....a place that isn't very packed to have a nice romantic day under the sun. I need some ideas on where to go for this...any help will be greatly appreciated...i would really like to do this this coming weekend so any ideas will def. be put into thought...simple, nice, not crowded and romantic...anyone?

There are a lot of places that I can think of I'll list a few and give you some websites:

1) Top on my list (as an alumni :) )would be Mirror Lake on the OSU campus. It is pretty quiet on campus during the summer and there are nice places to walk around. http://www.osu.edu has maps of campus.

2)There are some great Columbus city parks. All of them are listed at http://recparks.columbus.gov/Parks/index.asp. My favorites are Schiller Park in German Village and Goodale Park in Victorian Village. Another fun place for a picnic is the topary park at the deaf school park. Here is the website for that: http://recparks.columbus.gov/Parks/Parks_7.asp.

3) Any of the parks in the metro area. http://www.metroparks.net/ Depending on the weather, some of these could be crowded. I've never been to one that I thought was overcrowded though. They each have their own features, some even have native american mounds. One of the prettiest is Inniswoods in Westerville. The website is http://www.metroparks.net/ParksInniswood.aspx. They have nice walking trails, lots of green space, and an herb garden. It is more formal than some of the other parks.

Hope this helps! Have a good weekend.

I agree with the first reply, go to the OSU campus (also an alumni, so biased!) Mirror Lake is a perfect picnic spot, and the Oval in front of the library is huge and pretty to walk across. The interior campus is full of green space and pretty buildings. (Go Bucks!)

Bookloft is a really cool independent bookstore. It's in a 100 year old building and there are some charming shops that surround it. Plus the books are really inexpensive. You can check out a review at wheretogousa.com
