Need a nice country Inn in VA
I have to go up to the Dc area next week to pack up my momma's condo because we put her in assisted living. I wanted to treat myself to a cozy country inn on the way home for just a night. I will be traveling alone. Things have been stressful lately and hoping to have a massage, fine linens,etc.. I am an admitted hotel snob.
I thought of the Inn at Little Washington, bit the only availability is the Claiborne house. As I do not need 3,000 square feet do not feel that entitled to spend $3000 for just me for just one night...Well, you get the point. Does anyone know of a place to fit the bill? Somewhere between DC and Charlotte? Maybe Luray area? Hoping Janet can chime in, but usually see her in the Lounge. Thanks! |
I do not feel entitled.

Try primland. It is a new resort near VA NC border. Looks incredible and prices r reasonable. We r going to give it a try in may on our way from dc to clt.

I drove past this place last week and wished I could stay. I've investigated it online since then and hope to return some day.

Thank you all very much for the responses! Starrs, I chose the Inn at Meander Plantation. I am booked for late next week. Will report back. :)

Please let us know, bankbabe. I'm always looking for destinations in Virginia. I like Keswick in Charlottesville but I know I'm too late for a recommendation for you.

Please report back and let us know. I had researched options but for my road trip last week and just didn't find anything that appealed along my route - so I stayed in "just a hotel". I spent the next day wandering across Virginia, with Appomattox as my main destination. During the afternoon, as I headed to a Fodorite's house north of DC, I drove past the Inn and wanted to turn in the drive. I even "checked in" on Facebook as a reminder to myself for return visits. The area is just absolutely lovely. As I said above, I researched the inn in more details afterwards and was very impressed with what I read. I hope you are as well. Good luck with your packing project. That will probably be a very emotional day and you are wise to relax and pamper yourself a bit.

Please report back...I am too late, but we love this place and stay at least once a year. It is "in town" which we like, but would not suit everyone :)
