Thanks Neo. I checked the site and it still doesn't ring any bells with me. I was in college at the time though, so never watched tv until I was home on breaks. But I would think I would have at least heard about it, lol!

Patrick: I couldn't remember the name of the show for Alan Autry... so I googled... it was In the Heat of the Night.. but he's had small parts in a TON of other things too... I never would have known!

About FRESNO, the mini series. I guess it's not on a real video, but on the IMDB site, in the discussion someone talks about where you can get a full video -- for something like $13. I guess it's bootlegged, but they say it is a "legitimate" company whatever that means. I just may go for it. Something tells me it may seem even funnier now than then -- in the days of Dallas and Dynasty.

I too looked up the mayor. I never saw "In the Heat of the Night" on TV, but he was a regular on Grace Under Fire, which I did watch.

OK, I haven't been on this site in a long time but I will openly admit I am a native Fresnan. Born, raised, still live here.

I used to think I wanted to move away (sometimes I still do), but it's been home to me and I don't know anything different. I'll keep living here, although you can no longer see the snow capped mountains due to the smog.

We have lots of problems here but doesn't just about every where else? The worst thing is the meth labs and the red-neck white trash culture that pervades the Valley.

I believe Al Radka is still alive but has Alzheimers. But would you remember Mack Lazarus, who "would stand on my head to make you a deal"?

...the red-neck white trash culture that pervades the Valley.

It's been a long time since I've been to Fresno. Does the Valley include Clovis by any chance?

Clovis is located in what we call the valley (The San Joaquin Valley).

Clovis is right next to Fresno. When I was little, there was still a separation of the two towns, but they have grown and met in the middle.

>>But would you remember Mack Lazarus, who "would stand on my head to make you a deal"?<<

Some really dumb local commercial came on the other day, and I said, "Oh my word - it's like a Mack Lazarus commercial!" :-D

I don't remember what Mack Lazarus sold (mobile homes?), but at least his commercial was memorable!

If you remember Oberti Olive commercials, then of course you'd remember Lamoure's 2 for 1 dry cleaning with the awful dancing clothes, which Al Radka also did the voice over for.
