Need a car in DC?

I'm visiting Washington for a weekend. Staying at the Holiday Inn National Airport.

I haven't booked a rental car yet. I will be mostly doing things around the mall.

Do I need a car?

No, you will not want a car either. You'll pay to park it and won't use it.

You should plan to use the DC Metro to get around, especially since you say you're doing things near the mall.

We just came back from DC. The metro is excellent and easy to use. Don't bother with a car. If you don't want to take the metro at night, save some money for a cab.

Use feet, Metro and a cab if necessary. A car is useless in DC - expensive to rent and no place to park it.

Consider renting one only if you'll be taking day trips outside the city.
