Need a beachside summer getaway
 

Can anyone suggest a good vacation spot that would be a good half way point in between NY and South Carolina. Would like the area to be family friendly, preferably on or walkable to the beach with other amenities such as pools, golf courses, etc....This would be for the late summer. Time share, villa or house rental would be best.

Well, the OBX (Outer Banks) is not 1/2 way, but will give many options. <BR><BR>Ocean City, Maryland is another spot, but I am not sure about golf...<BR>

Outerbanks are great but it is a pain in the a$$ to get there. It's not like you can take an exit off 95 and you are there. It is still quite a drive off the interstate. Does that matter to you? If not, I'd go to Duck.

Avalon, N.J. has a great beach and excellent golf courses within 5 minutes. Cape May is 15 minutes away for sightseeing. The only drawback if you want to rent a house is very few rentals have pools-because the ocean, especially in late summer, is fabulous. There are hotels with pools but I would recommend renting a beach front house-pricey but well worth it.<BR>E-mail me if you would like the names of some realtors.

Ocean City MD does have a goodly supply of golf courses in the area now. And a long beach, with lots of time-share and condo lodgings available.
