NE Road Trip
Four of us (two couples in late 20's) are planning to see the sites from Boston to New York City during a week in late May. Any advice on places to stay or things to see/do along the way? We're thinking of spending a couple nights in Boston, a night in Newport, possibly a night in Providence and a couple nights in New York City... We're thinking of looking into B&B's so if any of you have stayed in a moderately priced B&B Inn in those areas, we'd love to hear about it. Thanks.

Skip Providence, especially as an overnight stay. It's barely an hour from Boston, and you'll want the time in Boston or Newport more. Also, what do you consider moderate prices? if you're going over Memorial Day weekend, rooms will be scarce and/or much higher priced, and most places will want a 3 night minimum stay.

I'd agree, skip Providence. There are many B&B's in Newport. We used the booking agency a few years ago.

One the way down, you may want to hit the Foxwoods casino. It think it is about an hour from Newport.

Thanks for the responses. We're going the week before Memorial Day so we hope to be able to get some decent prices (under $150/night). We've added Foxwoods Casino into our plan thanks to your suggestion...keep them coming!

If you like walking tours, in New York a great one starts at the Times Square Visitors Center on Fridays at noon. The Visitors Center is on Broadway just below 47th St. The tour is 2-3 hours but you can drop out at any time. It covers the Times Square area. It's free but a tip will show your appreciation. At the Center you can also purchase a $4 Fun ticket for the buses and subways for a day....well worthwhile since you save a lot of time. have fun!!

While you're at Foxwoods, be sure to see thier museum. It's on the property, but you need to drive there, just up the road from the casinos. It's an excellent museum about Native American history, brand new and state of the art. Well worth a visit.
