nbc studio tour nyc - worth it??
 

are these tours good - it is $17.50 per person - will only be in ny 3 days with my husband and 2 teenagers - should we include this????

We took a teenager this past summer and felt it was worth it (and none of us are even big TV buffs). The historical aspect, along with learning about how the sets, etc. work was very interesting.<BR><BR>

Basically, no.<BR><BR>I did this tour a couple of years ago. Maybe it lasted two hours, but I am not sure. You view a couple of the stage sets for example Saturday Night Live and NBC News. Then they discuss how a show is put together. I can't remember the details.

If you have any interest in TV/media, do your family a favor and go to the Museum of Television &amp; Radio instead.

We also took our teenage boys there. Yes, it is pricey. However, it is a real &quot;been there, done that&quot; experience. Each time Saturday Night Live comes on or we see Dateline, etc., they are quick to start to talk about the tour, etc. Was it a WOW experience, probably not, but the kids did like it. It was a nice change from the rest of NYC. We really got a kick out of the Radio &amp; TV museum. You can pick out and listen/watch old TV episode. The kids picked Simpsons (!, what can I say?), I picked a China Beach &amp; Barney Miller (the Brownie episode!) &amp; some others. We had a great time.

We enjoyed it, and it was worht the money (no, I would not go everytime we visited the city, but it was interesting) There may be some discounts available - can anyone help out with that?<BR><BR>Also, how about Madame Tussaud's on 42nd Street? The whole family would enjoy it and you can stay as long as you want - you go through it at your own pace. There are sports figures, movie stars, historical figures etc. Really something for everyone.

do all the TV stations offer tours? Do you think there will be much going on Xmas week? I imagine most shows will be on re-runs that week.<BR><BR>
