NBC Studio tour NY

Has anyone done this? Is it worth doing? It is an hour long or so. It is myself and my eleven year old dd.

Thanks in advance!

I think it depends what your interests are and how much time in the city you have, but I have taken it twice (though most recently in 2002) and found it enjoyable. On the first tour, Florence Henderson waved at us as we walked by her dressing room (she was on that "Later Today" show at the time), and we also saw a few other NBC personalities I can't recall now. On the second tour, we spent several minutes watching the cast of SNL rehearsing with Winona Ryder, who was the guest host that week. I also found it interesting to see the various studios and the page who is your tour guide may have some good stories.

I think you and your son will like it. In addition to seeing many of the sets, my recollection is that they do a demonstration on the teleprompter, blue-screen technology, etc. They have volunteers from the audience help, too.

You never know what you will see... it changes depending on what's going on... saw tv sets only on one tour and celebs on others...good luck... hope you choose the right day!!!

I did this several years ago on a girls' weekend and everyone liked it. It wasn't AMAZING, but it was pretty cool. We got to see some of the cast rehearsing SNL (through a set of windows, not live). I think it's worth doing for an hour or so and i think your 11 yo dd will like it.

I guess we were unlucky as we didn't get to see much going on when we took our tour (no celebs, no shows rehearsing, etc.)

Ours was interesting but not fantastic. We watch the Today Show and SNL, so it was cool to see the sets. But nothing was actually "going on" when we were there, so no celebs or anything.
