N'Awlins Advice
The countdown to N'Awlins is 15 days, and I can't wait!!!
My DH and I love to find places that are off the beaten path, and not necessarily well-known to the tourists (We love to meet the locals!)
Can anyone recommend excellent restaurants, diners, or bars to go to? We do not mind the little dives, and are not afraid to travel to other neighborhoods.
Our favorite restaurant that closed was Ugleshich's -- it looks like a little shack that should have been condemned long ago, and it was the best food EVER.
So where do we go for the local stories and characters? We have been reading about Saturn Bar lately . . .

Here are two of our favorites, both in the Quarter:
Deja Vu - 400 Dauphine St, New Orleans - (504) 523-1931
Yo Mama's Bar & Grill - 727 Saint Peter St, New Orleans, LA - (504) 522-1125
Have a great time - only 2 more months until we'll be there again and I'm already anxious!

Clancy's is Emeril's favorite NO restaurant. Brigtsen's is in the same neighborhood at the end of St. Charles near Tulane.

If you want a dive in the FQ check out
Coops Place on Decatur across from French Market and Jimmy Buffett's.

Here's a good site to visit.

Cafe Atchasfalaya serves up fine southern cousine on Magazine in the Garden District.

My favorites are Emeril's, Delmonico's, Bayona, Peristyle, Brennans, Commander's Palace and NOLA. My best meal on my last visit last month was Brennan's.
Bon Appetit.

Ike and ccolor, thank you for your great ideas. I am planning brunch at Brennan's, and one dinner at either Arnaud's, Cochon, or August.
We are staying on Dauphine St., which will be convenient to Deja Vu, and I can't wait to check out the other suggestions! Thanks.
This will be my 6th visit in 7 years, and we always discover something new! We're going to Preservation Hall finally, for some great music.
