Navarre vs. Ft. Walton Beach

A friend recently raved to me about wonderful Navarre beach. Everything I've seen tells me this is true. Problem is -- we're travelling w/ teens, and I'm worried they will be bored. I've also found a condo in FWB -- is this a better alternative for teens? The idea of crowds + traffic + beach = yuck!, but I realize the kids may want something to do in the evenings besides put aloe on their sunburns!

Is there a "nicer" part of FWB that I should consider? Are some areas more crowded than others?

Finally, has anyone stayed in Navarre and commuted to FWB/Destin for activities? How long does it take, and was it manageable or a nuisance?

thanks!

We rented a beachfront condo in Navarre and had 4 teens. They did get a little bored but still had a good time overall. It is a quiet beach and beautiful. It took us about 45min to drive to destin which we did twice for boating. We also went to Pensacola to the Air Museum and enjoyed that.

thanks cd --

I'm curious -- did you drive into Ft. Walton Beach or Destin at all? We're planning to do that to head off any boredom, and I'm wondering how long it takes, etc. and whether the traffic is as unbearable as I've heard (it probabaly is -- but I would appreciate yuor persepctive anyway!)

Oops = just re-read your msg and you say it took 45 minutes to get to Destin -- that's manageable!

Just curious -- where did you stay? We're at the Caribbean, and I rented this place sight unseen and on faith from Abbott Resorts. Crossing my fingers!

We rented a condo from VRBO.com and it was great. 10ft from the pool and about that far to the sand that lead to the beach. The kids also went go-carting one day about 20miles east of Narvarre, but I forgot the name of the town. Have fun!
