NATURISM

Are there designated or informally accepted topless or naturism beaches in Sanibel?

Thanks,

Debbie

Another pervert who feels ENTITLED to flaunt it!

Sue Feb 2nd, 2001 11:08 AM

It's unbelieveble how sick people see topless or naturism as being pervert. XXX, were you born in Salem a few centuries ago???

Karl Feb 2nd, 2001 11:25 AM

I absolutely agree with Sue. It's natural, if done properly in proper places that will not shock people. And I guess that's what Debbie is asking. In Europe, people just behave naturally in any public beach - including a quick change - and people around just don't mind. The malice is in the eyes of the one who sees!!!

Bunch of liberal, weirdo, sexual deviants on this board!

Bob Feb 2nd, 2001 11:52 AM

Dear xxx,

I don't think Debbie is "Another pervert who feels ENTITLED to flaunt it!"

If she felt the need to flaunt it, she would work at a strip club.

By asking on a TRAVEL FORUM a TRAVEL question she is not a pervert. Maybe she wants to know of a place to AVOID in Sanibel.

Anyway, why did you even read her post, it clearly states what it's about.

been there Feb 2nd, 2001 12:37 PM

Seems to me that there are enough beaches out there so that some could be set aside for nude or clothing optional use.

XXX sounds more like a Bush appointee.

xxx, I know that this is the USA forum, however, just to put this question into perspective. In Europe and Scandinavia for example, toplessness and/or nudity carries much less of a taboo then in the USA. Beaches throughout the mediterranian have woman sunbathing topless, of all ages, shapes and sizes. It is not considered perverted, rude, scary or dangerous, there is infact, much less of a FIXATION on it, being considered more natural. It is customary for many prominent fashion magazines routinely shoot two seperate covers, one for Europe, that maybe shows a small bit of Claudia Schiffer's upper female body and one for the USA which is covered up.
While waiting in line to see Michelangelo's David, one of the greatest works of Renaissance art, an American couple behind us, was debating whether or not to let their 10 year old girl into the museum, due to David's nudity.
I am not saying that one way is correct or not, but just making the point that there are many decent places in Western and Eastern Civilization where partial nudity is considered non-threatening. IMO the less we stigmatize tastefull nudity the less we obsess about it, and sometimes the more comfortable we can be with our own, perhaps "less then perfect" bodies. Sorry I can't respond directly to Debbie's question, and I don't mean to step on anyones belief system, but it is interesting to note how different cultures see things differently.

TROLL.

The answer is no.

You might find enough isolation further down the coast, south of Fort Myers Beach, but you'd probably be cutting it pretty close to the law and local tolerance.

Key West has fewer hangups, and you'll encounter topless optional signs.

But, pretty much, it's a conservative state, with conservative local residents and conservative local police forces, state park officials, etc.

BAK

Long long way from Sanibel, but I think the naturist beach on the causeway between Miami and Key Biscayne that was there 40 years ago is still there.

Doug

Deb--

the closest nude beach I know of to Sanibel is Lido beach up I Sarasota.
Then again, if you see an empty stretch of beach anywhere---go for it!

How times have changed. Back when I was growing up,in the 30's, when a baby was hungry mothers just hauled one out and fed it. Didn't matter, in a bus station, church, wherever. I don't understand why any male would get excited at seeing a breast. That's meant to be a food sourse for baby. Not a sexual part of a woman's body. From the waist down should be kept COVERED in public - man or woman.

xxx Feb 3rd, 2001 05:45 PM

They did away with the nude beach at Lido years ago. And by the way Therenomore, I think you hit the wrong button when you posted your response.

Just adding my two cents. I'm so far right that I'd some of my beliefs would make Buchanan or Helms wince. However, I have nothing against the concept of nude beaches as long as they are some- how cordoned off for the privacy of the majority who don't want to see uncomfortable with nudity in public and the privacy of naturalists who don't want to be gawked at. Frankly, I'd do it myself(despite the fears of exposing my shortcomings) but the wife is unwilling and there are no nude beaches that I know of in my native Maryland or, for that matter, anywhere between the Delaware River and Florida.

I like big titties. The more on the beach the better. Let's see those naked boobs ladies!
