Hello, I've put together the following itinerary for my family of four (myself, my husband, and our two daughters 14 and 12) for early November, and just wanted to gauge if I've planned appropriately. It seems there are many nicely reviewed hotels in Carlsbad to stay, but maybe you have a particular favorite? The kids always love a great pool - I love a good free breakfast. Also trying to decide whether to do two nights in Carlsbad or overnight in Roswell instead. Lastly, if you've got a particular favorite activity or restaurant at any of our destinations, or along the way, please let us know! Thanks!

Wednesday - arrive ELP at 6:30pm
Overnight in El Paso - Hampton Inn & Suites El Paso Airport

Thursday
Guadalupe Mountains National Park
Hike - McKittrick Canyon trail to the Grotto and/or Notch and back, stopping at Pratt Cabin (4.5-5 hours).
Guadalupe Mountains National Park to Carlsbad (hotel recommend?)

Friday
Carlsbad Caverns
Should we overnight another night in Carlsbad, or drive to Roswell to spend the night?

Saturday
Explore Roswell
International UFO Museum
Purchase cheesy souvenirs
Drive Roswell to Ruidoso
MCM Elegante Lodge and Suites Ruidoso

Sunday
White Sands National Park (sledding and exploring)
White Sands National Park to El Paso Airport for 7pm flight home

Your plan sounds good. If you are going when the bats are doing their evening flight out of Carlsbad Caverns, then I would want to be there when that happens, so would add a night there. Check the nps web site for dates
