National Park Fee-Free Weekends This Summer!
For those of you who don't get Fodor's weekly e-newsletter, the US National Park Service is offering three fee-free weekends this summer. The list features a wide variety of parks; we won't be able to take advantage of this offer, but hopefully some of you will.

Hi Lee Ann, good reminder.
lennyba posted about this yesterday already: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...his-summer.cfm The fee-free dates are June 20 and 21 July 18 and 19 August 15 and 16 |
Good weekends to avoid national parks if you already have the National Park Pass! ;)

Thanks, yk; I did look for another thread, but missed it, obviously.
Utahtea, I agree with you ;-) - but for someone who is already planning to travel those weekends, it might save them some money. Or it might be a good time to explore some of the "off the beaten path" parks. Lee Ann |
Topping as a reminder. First Fee-Free weekend is coming up June 20 and 21.

Topping one more time.

Did anyone take advantage of this? My cousin and I visited the JFK Birthplace National Historic Site in Brookline MA this afternoon. http://www.nps.gov/jofi/
We lucked out by arriving just in time for a ranger-guided walking tour of the neighborhood, so we learned about what Brookline was like in the 1920s, saw the first and second houses that JFK grew up in, and the elementary school he attended. After the tour, we did an audioguide tour of the house, narrated by Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. What a great way to spend a few hours, learned some history; all for free! |
even though it's a free weekend with the parks budgets hurting so much please drop a donation in the fee box in lieu of entry fee - is my suggestion.
