National Museum Day (FREE)
Saturday is National Museum day. All the museums across the country are free!!Yeea! So if you have been wanting to go to one this would be a great day. We are hitting The Museum of Flight in Seattle and SAM (Seattle Art Museum). We are also going to the Mariners game where we got free tickets from work right behind the home plate. SOOOO if I can find someone to buy our beer and a hot dog it will be quite a cheap day! LOL!

Woah - back up! Not quite exactly as stated, but good info all the same. :)
lisettemac just posted about this a few minutes ago, with a link for more info. Not all museums are free - but many do participate (I don't see Seattle Art Museum on the list, but you can check for yourself). http://www.smithsonianmagazine.com/museumday/index.php And, even if you find a museum you want to go to, you can't just walk up to it and get in free. With a museum day admission card, two people can get in free. You can get one in the Sept 2006 Smithsonian Magazine, or at the Museum Day website, but I couldn't find the card at the website I posted before it locked up my computer and I gave up trying. So, go and enjoy a museum, but look up the background info first if getting in free matters to you. ;) |
here's the link to the "card" you need to present for the free admission at the museums listed

This is so cool! Thanks for telling us.
Lets keep this one neat the top of the Fodor's List so no one misses it. Keith |
Sorry I meant The Seattle Asian Museum. Good thing you told me about the on line pass. My boss had not mentioned that. But pretty cool anyway! I have my pass printed out and I'm ready to roll.

Thank you for posting this. I'd heard about it, but had "misfiled" it until you reminded me.
