National Christmas Tree/National Menorah

I just got back from DC to see the tree and Menorah. Although living in the area for some time, this was my first visit to see these. The tree was lovely. The Menorah however was a big let down. The Menorah itself is nice enough, but it looks as if it is an industrial site. It is surrounded by a rental chain link fence, each section with a sign of the rental company. Inside the fence are generators and cables snaking all over the place. Something that looks like concrete jersey wall sections hold the wires bracing the Menorah. Next to the tree, the whole thing looks tawdry. I know it is put up by a private group, but as my grandfather always said, "if you are going to do something, do it right."
