National Car rental -Kauai
Any experience with national car rental on Kauai ? Is it a hassle getting your luggage from the airport terminal to the rental place ? I'm staying at the Marriot and i believe they offer a shuttle from the airport. I'm just wondering if I should just take the shuttle and get my car the next day....any suggestions ? Thank you !!

Actually the shuttle stop from the terminal is right across the street. No hassle really. It's all open air and being in Kauai is so nice. Just take your luggage to the car shuttle stop and they'll wisk you off to the car rental place. We did Budget but I'm sure the shuttle to National is the same. It's all very close, maybe 1 or 2 minute drive. Get a convertible and drive around with the top down. Ahhhh...

Suuuuz and Jay,
National may be one of the rental acgys located right across the luggage carousels. And, if so, they have a lot of their cars right there behind the little offices?

Either way, Mrs Kal and I have got the "Lihue Shuffle" down pat. She gets the luggage (finally got it down to 3 small "Eagles") while I hoof it across the pkg lot (no shuttle-after a 5-6 hr flight-I need the exercise)and pick up the rental.
By time I've got the car, she's waiting at the curb w/ the luggage. 15 mins later, checked in and at the bar sipping a mai tai and Kona Fire Rock!

Dittos on the "convertible-ahhhhhh".
Lihue is still small enough an airport you should have no problems.

290
Kal

Yeah Kal I thought maybe National might be one of those at the Kiosk but I wasn't sure. At any rate, Jay, as Kal says it's all very easy. Good luck and have a great time!

Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks for the info. I think I'll try that "Lihue shuffle" Although, I'm not sure my future wife will be able to carry 2 suitcases, plus 2 golf bags. 39 more days......

Jay, the airport is pretty small and it's all close together. Assemble all your belongings next to the curb have your wife perched on the suitcases while she watches you sprint across the street to the kiosk. Bring the car around and toss your stuff in. On the way to your hotel you'll chuckle to yourself how small and laid back the whole experience was. Your wife won't even be able to finish an article in a Pople magazine in the time it wil take you to get the car! Now don't forget....Spring for the convertible!!!!!!

Oh...Golfing Jay T.!

Did you get the tee times worked out?
Which courses? No...don't tell me...it will kill me since I'm looking out at dreary gray, chilly skies and a chance of rain.

Suzie's side of town is probably sunny.
Ha!

I liked the smaller airport at Molokai. I tell people the "tower" is an old lifeguard stand with a guy waving 2 newspapers around. It's that small.
Kal

Ha ha Kal! Could be sunny from son's fever burning off the cloud cover! Been driving the parkway alot lately. I've never felt closer to the west side! It's almost like we're one town now!!! Hmmm how to keep the riff raff off our pristine street????
|
I'll do that Suzie....I can picture her now perched up on our luggage as I drive up in a convertable : ) Kal, I actually haven't made my tee times yet. I should probably get crackin' though. I'm thinking of playing the Kiele course 1 day and Princeville another day. The other days I'd like to play the Kukuiolono and the Puakea...so I can save money for dinner : ) I actually golfed saturday afternoon it was in the 60's in Boston, not bad for March, huh ?
