National Airlines is in very serious financial trouble. I wouldn't book anything with them.

I have flown National about 6 times in the last year. They offer some great combo vacations with the Rio Suites as they are both same owner. I end up staying in Arizona, but the Chicago Midway to L.V. run is terrific. Grad school student groups in my area have used their Rio/National package many times and never had a complaint.

I have heard that they are on their way out for over a year now. For years I used to hear the same thing about A.T.A. and Southwest. I personally doubt that they will go down- but they may be bought out or combined. Regardless, you get assigned seat and you leave on time much more often than the big guys.

National filed for bankruptcy protection in 2000 and managed to get some assistance. They have managed to continue operations, and have no plans to shut down in the immediate future. However, you should definately book at your own risk.
