Natchez, MS to Gulf Shores, AL area
 

I see that Natchez Spring Pilgrimage is March 13-31 this year. I'm taking my 11 year old daughter so we can't be that close to the Gulf and not stick our toes in the white sand; I'm thinking Orange Beach, Alabama. Has anybody been to these areas lately? Any tips?

Thanks for replying. It looks like it is a good family Spring Break place, right? Where were would you suggest to eat? How bad is the traffic (or is there any?) We would just be traveling through for 1-2 days, so I'll stick to a hotel. What about Embassy Suites?

We've been to gulf shores every summer for the past 14 years. We also been there on spring break. It is a great place. Our favorite places to eat are The Original Oyster House, the Steamer, the Spot, and DeSoto's. There is also a big outlet mall in Foley which you will come through going down to gulf shores. There was hardly any traffic when we were there during spring break and it really wasn't too bad in the summer. They say around the fourth of july it is really bad. There are a lot of nice hotels on the beach also. Go to www.gulfshores.com. You'll have a great trip with your daughter. Our whole family loves it there.

The hotel situation is problematic. Many of the Gulf Front hotels have been bought out for condo development. Good ones remaining are the Best Western and a Hilton Garden Inn in Orange Beach. I prefer the Hilton.

Lots of good restaurants with the obvious emphasis on seafood. Vickymc's list is good, plus there is Cafe Grazie, Louisiana Lagniappe, Tacky Jack's, Mango's, Live Bait and tons of others.

Traffic isn't usually a problem down here. Even on holiday weekends it's nothing like Atlanta on any weekday.
