Natchez B&B's
Dear fellow travelers,
In April of 2011, my wife and I are planning a trip to Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. We will be driving to New Orleans over the Nathcez Trace and are planning stops in Kosciusko and Natchez. We would like to stay at a nice B&B (not to expensive). There are about 10 B&B lisyings near Natchez. Which one gets the best reviews from fellow travelers and is within walking distance to town? |
There are 33 Natchez B&Bs listed at
http://www.tripadvisor.com/HACSearch...issippi%2C+USA and 26 are reviewed. The one we stayed at for our 25th anniversary, for instance, had 161 reviews (including mine). |
Thanks for the recommendation. As it turns out, Oak Hill was the one that I tentatively selected.

We loved this place! I felt like I was living in another time. We had the most wonderful dinner in their dining room! If interested, reservations are a must. |
Devereaux Shields House is very nice.

The Natchex Trace is a boring drive. Once you drive a small portion of it then you have done the entire route in Mississippi. It is much better in TN. There are more historical places in TN. There is nothing between Tupelo and Jackson, MS. I would not stop in Kosciusko, MS I would leave the NT at Highway 82 and go W to Greenwood, MS and spend the night at the 4 * Alluvian Hotel owned by Viking Range and have dinner at Giardinia's or Lusco's. You can return to the NT by heading S on I 55 and getting back on the NT N of Jackson, MS.
Alluvian Hotel @ 318 Howard Street, Greenwood, MS 662 - 451 - 1500. http://www.thealluvian.com/ If it were me I would drive S of Memphis, TN on Highway 61 and stop in Clarksdale, MS to visit their Blues Museum and have lunch at Ground Zero Blues Club owned by Morgan Freeman. I would then head S on Highway 49 to Greenwood, MS and spend the night. I would head S to Vicksburg to visit the Military Park and then you could head E to Jackson to the NT. There's a lot to see in the MS Delta. http://www.visitthedelta.com/ |
http://www.natchezms.com has a pretty complete listing of B&B's in Natchez, and the listings are linked to their websites. You'll also see info on restaurants, attractions, shopping, etc.
I recommend getting your reservations as early as possible, as Spring Pilgrimage fills up the B&B's pretty quickly. |
