Nasty people on here!!!!

I just can't get over some of the nasty, angry people on this forum. It seems to be getting worse and worse since I started coming here. I think I'll go someplace else. Almost every post you read has some kind of nasty, sarcastic reply. This is not for me. So long and have fun.

Hey Michelle, you're so right! I am not going to stop reading Fodors, but I am probably going to stop replying. Almost every one of my posts has had a downright nasty response, been called a moron, stupid, etc. Alot of people online are isolated, bored, frustrated and angry and it really shows here in this forum!

CMcDaniel Jul 13th, 2000 09:16 AM

Hey Guys...do you realize this is precisely the response those posters are looking for?

They'll never go away completely, but if they don't receive the desired responses from the rest of us, they'll post far less frequently. Remember the "Terrible Twos"? Those posters never quite made it beyond that phase.

Stick with us, keep posting, and try to keep in mind who the true "morons" are.
Michelle, I hope you'll reconsider. I understand things get better when the infants are back in school.

Michelle...it's high time you leave. You're stinking up the place. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. ADIOS.

Yet another argument for registration and actual email addresses. Well meaning folk are being driven off by meanspirited jerks who don't even identify themselves. Fodors????

WhoAreYouAnyway Jul 13th, 2000 11:32 PM

So you get YOUR thrills AnonMan by constantly abusing others. Pathetic.
7 more weeks till another year of broadening the minds of our countries' brightest kids.
Until then... I wish that their day care providers would not allow unmonitored internet use. It's just not a good idea. God knows what the gifted child who posted before me has been accessing on his computer.

I admit it, I've gotten nasty a few times. Know I shouldn't because I really love this forum. Sometimes I just get so fed up with the SMUGNESS of posters. And I've never had much tolerance for people who get out somewhere and tell everybody how important they are.

I usually only post under my real name when I have a travel question for myself. Last time I sought help, I got a crazy note from someone demanding to know why her information wasn't helpful to me. (Oh well...)
fodorite Jul 14th, 2000 10:57 AM

Thanks for the apology. Has it BeenYou all this time?

It would be great if those getting helpful advice were polite in their responses too.
How can you monitor smugness, though? Some of us here are just personality impaired.

Iconfess Jul 14th, 2000 12:09 PM

Fodorite: you can't monitor smugness, but a few could think twice before posting a response that comes off like the be all/end all. No, it's hasn't been me all this time; maybe two or three times.
didn't mean to Jul 14th, 2000 01:52 PM

I'm sorry if I offended. I have just seen similarly-styled posts, some right on, some well....can I say less than kind without sounding smug?

Sorry Jul 15th, 2000 08:18 AM

I, too have been guilty of the occasional overly exuberant response. You know, just phrasing things in a certain way when i could have done better with a little effort. sorry to the 2-3 people who received responses that were unnecessarily harsh. i've gotten much better lately.
