Nashville, TN start of roadtrip

We are planning to fly into Nashville, TN; stay about 4 nights and then take a road trip that will loop back to Nashville to fly home. We thought we would spend about 10 days out. Any suggestions for an itinerary that would loop back to Nashville?

I like The Loveless Cafe for a meal in Nashville. Of course, have Hot Chicken somewhere. Las Paletas is an interesting place for a popsicle(yes I said popsicle $3)-They are that good. Don't miss The Hermitage

Head north a couple of hours. See Corvette Museum and Corvette Assembly Plant(right across the road from each other). Have Lunch @ Corvette Cafe, which is in the Museum.

From there see Mammoth Cave. I would take more than one tour here actually. If you are adventurous, do the Wild Cave Tour.
You could go a bit further north and see Abraham Lincoln Home.

I would then head to Pigeon Forge/Smoky Mountain area. Have lunch in Knoxville, which is on the the way, at The French Market, Tomato Head, or Tupelo Honey Cafe. If you are just in the mood for a snack the Chocolates and Coffee is a good spot.
There is a lot to do in Pigeon Forge-The entire place is a tourist trap. I like the Ziplinning at Canopy Works Co. there. In the Smoky's--Drive Cades Cove. A good hike there is Abram Falls. I also like hiking to Grotto Falls, Laurell Falls, and Clingmon's Dome.

Then I would continue on to Ashville and See The Biltmore house.

You could easily go the other Direction and include Coette Museum, Mammoth Cave, Abraham Lincoln Home and then make a loop to include St. Louis and Memphis.

You could do a southern loop to include Memphis, Natchez, and New Orleans.

You could continue east to include the Carolina coast including Charleston down to Savannah.

What kind of things do you enjoy doing? Do you like outdoors/parks/hiking? Shopping? Other activities?

Kinda depends on how much driving you want to do. A fun loop would take you north into KY ad Mammoth Cave as suggested, then continue to Elizabethtown and Bardstown on the Bourbon Train then to Lexington before swinging south to Knoxville, Gatlinburg and the Great Smokey Mt. Nat. Park before Ashvilloe and Biltmore House. Then across to Chattanooga and on to Nashville.

I like boom_boom's idea. Keep in mind that Gatlinburg area is very congested.
