Nashville safety

Hi all-
I'm traveling with a friend from Dallas to DC and we're stopping for the night in Nashville. We'll have a Uhaul truck loaded with her stuff that we plan to park in the lot of whatever hotel we stay in. I was just wondering if anyone could offer some advice on what neighborhoods are safe and which ones to avoid. I know you cant guarantee anything but it would be good to know where nice, low crime areas are. Thanks a lot!

If you don't plan to do any sightseeing in Nashville and just spending the night, the best thing to do is to stop before or after Nashville. There are plenty of motels along I-40. No need to stop in town.

I agree. I live right outside Nashville and it's much cheaper to stay outside the city limits.

BTW, I'm not saying Nashville is unsafe or anything like that. Just that if you're driving a U-Haul truck in unfamiliar territory, it's just easier to stay out of the city.

Also, Nashville traffic is pretty bad. So, if possible, go past Nashville on the night of arrival. Next morning, you'll be on your merry way towards Knoxville instead of stuck in rush hour traffic.

For example, tonnes and tonnes of motels off I-40 Exit 238 (US231) in Lebanon, TN, about 20 miles past Nashville. That's where I would shoot for. Lots of motels also mean lots of place to eat, even late at night.

Agree with the above suggestions. nashville traffic is brutal in the mornings so keep on trucking right through and stay in Lebanon right off the highway. Lebanon is as safe a place as any but you can probably book a hotel that can give you a room overlooking the parking lot which would give you some added comfort.
