Nashville/Memphis winter trip
Will have a full week to visit these two cities. Been to Nashville over a decade ago and enjoyed it a lot. Still not sure on how to split the week between these two cities, was thinking 3 days in one and 4 on the other. Any suggestions.
Highlight of the trip might be Graceland, but would be interested in what you have to say. We are a family of 4, travelling with 2 young adults and a dog. We enjoy dining out, museums, art districts, and some shopping. Thanks in advance for all replies! |
The national Civil Rights .Museum at the old Lorraine Motel in Memphis is excellent, very powerful.

Memphis claims it is the birthplace of the Blues, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Soul. Go to famous Beale Street to hear the Blues (iffy at night); Shelby Farms, a 4,500-acre park with lakes, gardens, bison herd; Audubon Park with large botanical garden; historic Peabody Hotel where many famous people including Benny Goodman, the Andrews Sisters, President Jimmy Carter and Priscilla Presley stayed; Vous restaurant--Memphis is famous for barbecue; historic 1939 Green Beetle tavern where BB King, Hank Williams, Elvis, and Bennie Goodman hung out; Stax Museum of American Soul Music—self-proclaimed birthplace of Soul music; and Sun Studios—self-proclaimed birthplace of Rock n’ Roll.
