Narrows in Zion
How is the all day hike in the Narrows? I think you get dropped off in the morning and hike 16 miles during the day?
Do you need permits? to pay?
is this a tough hike for all day?

utautea, glad you are here and in on this- I have a question for you. I am going last week of March to Zion and Bryce (per suggestions from you and others on this forum) and I wanted to hike at least part of the narrows (w/the hypothermia outfit/gear if needed) but I have concerns abotu flash floods from the snow melt run-offs at that time. Do you know about how much of a risk that is in late March, do you stay away from it at that time?

Big Daddy- the Narrows is awesome!! It is one of the best hikes I've ever done. If you do not want to hike the whole thing, you can access the Narrows from the other end - Hike the Riverside Trail 1 mile to the river. Then you get in and basically start hiking! After hiking/wading for a while, you get to a junction of Orderville Canyon, which is another side canyon that's neat to explore.
We encountered people who hiked the whole thing from the top, like you described. But they camped overnight and they said by the end of the 2nd day they were gettng a bit tired of being wet all the time.
The Narrows is definitely in the Top 3 of our favorite hikes.

Thanks Utahtea and Karen - I have hiked a little ways into the Narrows going upstream but don't get that far in. I really want to see the entire thing since I think it is much more amazing from the beginning.
I read that the entire hike would take about 12 hours if you don't camp - not sure I would be up for that.
I am also concerned about the camera equip

I'm sorry I'm not that familar with the March weather in Zion.
I think that ANY time of the year the best thing to do is to check with the ranger station before you attempt hiking in the Narrows.
