Naples, Florida Fodorite Gathering
 

This idea sprang out of an attempt for a Tampa area gathering -- mainly among those on the Europe board. We've set a date of Saturday, January 31 at 2 PM, presumably to be at McCabe's Irish Pub on the plaza on Fifth Avenue South. People can order drinks, food, mingle, etc.

Paul, I forgot about that webcam from McCabe's. What is the link for it? Curious if we'll be able to set a time and do a wave on Jan. 31 to anyone who's watching.

Didn't see you in that giant crowd at the New Year's Eve fireworks. Wasn't it a great night to be out on the beach for New Year's?

At the risk of sounding too "clubby", Paul and I had our own Fodorite gathering at Campiello's over Christmas vacation.

What a hoot. I think we should set a time and let all of Fodors know what time we'll move around to the front of McCabes and give a big wave and Fodor's cheer. There's sound with this webcam. Oh my God, I walk by there all the time; I better start watching what I'm saying.

This will be the next best thing to being there! :-D

I just Returned to New York from Naple's on the Jan 6 to the big freeze here . I guess i will be Checking the webcam this time .Have A Pint for me !

Patrick, I meant to reply earlier to this post, but I forgot to. We would have come to this gathering, BUT we have a late flight back from Vegas FRiday night, and we will be wiped, BIG TIME. We have been to McCabes, and liked it very much. It is a great people watching place too, if you sit outside. Hope to see you all on the webcam! :-D Judy

Gosh, Patrick. I wish I could becaause I think it would be lots of fun. But it's a long long drive from Tampa, then back. And even longer from Orlando, for those who are up there.

We can do a follow-up in Tampa sometime after your GTG. So wave the flag for us! Now that's a thought -- seems like you'll need to have a funky flag so people will know where the fodorites are at McCabe's. Like they do at Jazz Fest -- something goofy and funky on a pole -- something that says Florida! How about a big Pink Flamingo? No good, they're invaders. Maybe a scarlet ibis or roseate spoonbill would do. Or an illegal immigrant! Now I'm getting silly.

Anyway, it's your call, boyfriend.

Y'all have fun at the event. For a flag, maybe the Fodor's flying guy if you can get copyright clearance.

Does anyone know how to capture webcamera images? I think it would be fun to have the group shot part of the scrapbook.

Count me in ! I have a friend coming into town on Thursday and will bring her, too (husband has to work till 3 at Naples Airport) - Sounds fun - looks like our "evening" outing will start at 2:00 in the afternoon. How will we know who's who???

Just check in at the desk at the corner of McCabe's pub and they'll send you to the Fodor's area -- either our private little room or an area of the plaza depending on the weather.

This sounds like fun. As much as you all have helped out with our travel plans, we would love to come meet some of you. But, we're going to miss you by one day. We are not arriving in the Naples area until Feb. 1. Oh well.
