Naples, FL

First visit to Naples for a day trip, need suggestions where to go to get a good feel for Naples by the beach and downtown.

Where are you coming from, north or south?

Can you tell us more about yourself and the group you will be travelling with?

Naples Dock area has several good restaurants, is a place to find several for hire boats for tours, fishing, etc, and is one of the stops on the water shuttle route. The latter is an inexpensive way to see a bit of the marina.

Like the idea of the water shuttle. How about a nice, clean, not too expensive hotel near the beach for a night. Saw the Lemon Tree Inn, any thoughts?

The Lemon Tree Inn is cute as it can be but is basically a 1950's motel underneath the skin. Well, 1960's because Naples wasn't much more than a crossroads in the 1950's. If they fixed up the inside as cute as the outside, I would give it a shot. Great location, though on a very busy highway.
