Naples 4th July

Holidaying in Naples AGAIN from the UK arriving 1st July. Wondering if there was anything happening on 4th July?

There is usually a parade in Old Naples during the morning and at night, fireworks at the Naples Pier.

The Naples Players at the Sugden will be doing the musical Secret Garden at that time (and I believe an evening performance on July 4). It promises to be a great show -- with a superlative cast and production values.

Yes, the parade and fireworks are annual event.s

Awwww! This thread brings back memories! We spent about five 4th of Julys in Naples when I was in high school and college. It was always fun. The first year, we staked out a place on the beach to watch the fireworks. The family house was on 9th Ave S., so we were on the beach in that vicinity and things got quite crowded. It was also not much fun sitting on the blanket and guarding the chairs in shifts. The next year we got smart and just walked down an hour or so before fireworks time and sat on the guardrails right there at the steps to the beach. The fireworks were always fun, though, no matter where we sat.

Betsy, I live on 9th Ave. South. But at the other end -- 10 blocks from the beach and by the bay -- across from the old Turner Marina, which you'd no longer recognize -- now a gigantic boat barn with supposedly the world's largest boat fork lift for slotting surprisingly large boats indoors.

And while I enjoy the fireworks on the 4th, I prefer the ones we have on New Year's Eve -- when it's not 90 degrees and 90% humidity on the beach!

Ok, that's such a bizarre coincidence that you live on 9th Ave! My grandmother's family owned houses at 238 and 258 9th Ave S. My great-grandfather actually bought the property back in the 30's or 40's. We spent two weeks in the 238 house every summer from the time I was 12 (1982) until the houses were sold in 2001. We've been back to Naples a few times since then, and it is still the beach vacation spot that I compare all others to.
