Napili Bay or Kaanapali Area?

Hello! My husband and I will be traveling to Maui for the first time in August, 2002. I can't decide where we should stay! Either Napili Shores condo or Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Napili Shores is less expensive through United Vacations ($ is a concern), but I'm concerened that there isn't much to do in Napili (my husband needs activity) and also that there's no air coniditioning. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice? I need a nice beach, my husband needs activity, and we both need to watch our wallets! I would appreciate any info you can give! Thanks!

Napili is a nice area with beautiful beaches. It's not that far at all from Kaanapali and Lahaina, so getting to activities is not a big problem. Our favorite condo in Napili is Napili Sunset. Website:www.napilisunset.com

Katrina
We have stayed at the Napili Kai, which was sooooo nice, and also at the Mauian, right next door. Both quiet and on a great snorkling beach. They are just a short walk to Kapalua bay which is one of the best beaches. They are only 10 or 15 minutes away from Kaanapali area, which just didnt have the atmosphere that the Napili area did. We have also stayed at the Kaanapali shores, which was ok. If we wanted to go on a boat trip or fish, whatever, we would just drive to Lahaina, etc. It was always nice to get back to our pleasant condo at Napili.
By the way, theres a great deli where we ended up "taking out" often, called Honokowai Deli between Napili and Kaanapali. Have fun...Patty

Napili Bay is sheer paradise. My sister and I rented a private condo therelast July. I am returning with the husband and two sons in June. The Napili Shores is a great place to stay. We enjoyed the beautiful view, privacy, pools, hottub, Gazebo restaruant, birds. and beautiful flowers. I was also a very safe place with security. I like the two story condos with large patios. go to vrbo.com and check out the Napili Bay Section. They have pics so you know what you are getting. I rented mine after finding it there. It was newly remodeled, beaufiful furniture, and a special place. Be sure you are renting one with view!

Although several people have told t=you why they prefer Napili, nobody seems to have answered your question.

If you want to be within walking distance of lots of things to do then Kaanapali is the better choice. If you want to "get away from it all" then Napili is the better choice.
