Napa with friends
There is a group of 4 women who are going to the Napa area this summer.

We like to shop, spa and look around.

#1 - where is the best place to stay (town)?
#2 - any suggestions on the spa?
#3 - we would like to stay in a cottage possibly - anyone know of a good one?

Depending on your wants..I'd suggest Calistoga. It is the spa town. There are several to choose from but I would recommend Indian Springs. This is a full spa with a olympic sized mineral water pool open only to guests. This spa has a series of small cottages for rent with full kitchens. You are on the outskirts of Calistoga proper but in brief walking distance to shops and restaurants. I am certain they must have a website.

I think you hav been given good advice. I know some groups return to Calistoga on a regular basis. If I did not live so close I would choose IS. We have gone to the pool, but the cottages look fun.

I have been thinking about planning a future trip to Napa and coincidentally, over the weekend, I saw a Style network travel show (forgot the name) which profiled an inn/b&b call Foothill House. After I read your post, I googled for the website - http://www.foothillhouse.com.

Curiously enough, it is in Calistoga and is 'cottagey'. From the show and the website, it looks very charming (the owners do as well!). Good luck!

The cottages are quite nice. There is also a house which I think is available as well still and has two bedrooms. All the "cottages" have the amenities you should need. You also have barbq

barbque to use as well. There is a full grocery store and a small upscale market about 1 1/2 blocks into Calistoga from the Indian Springs cottages. As well, there are many restaurants within walking distance.

If you don't mind spending a little, well, a lot. Go to Meadowood. www.meadowood.com. They have great cottages, a spa, and a wonderful restaurant.
