Napa Valley, CA
Going for the first time to Napa Valley the end of September for a wedding. We will have a couple of days to venture out- any suggestions on what to do? And recommendations on resturants would be great-we love seafood, italian. Thanks

Yountville is where a lot of good and great restaurants are. Try Bistro Jeanty for great French food.
Will you have a car? If you have sufficient time, you can drive over to Sonoma Valley and see a different kind of wine country. Sunset magazine just did a comparison of the two regions, Napa and Sonoma, and Sonoma won (by one point).

There are tons of restaurant in Yountville and St. Helena.
The famed, overrated, French Laundry is in Yountville. I do like Bistro Jeantry. Phillippe Jeanty has had excellent dining standards for over 20 years.
In St. Helena is Terra, my choice for the best restaurant in the Napa Valley. Hiro Sone and his lovely wife, Lisa Doumani, have a wonderful restaurant in an historic stone building. These are my two favorite restaurants in Nvalley.

French Laundry is overrated? Seriously? Three Michelin star restaurant,, regularly voted as one of the best in the world. How does it get the label overrated?
Sept is a very busy time in Napa and Sonoma. Make sure to make reservations at your restuarants well in advance.
It's hard to know what to suggest. Will you not be wine tasting? Are you talking about shopping? Beaches? Museums?

I think it is, too. Been twice, wasn't very impressed either time (and I wasn't spending my own money either).
We had a really nice meal at Redd in January, and a good meal at Tyler Florence's place in Napa last year.

The Oxbow Market is fun....
Have you checked an event calendar to see what special Crush activities may be available? Wine Country This Week's online version has a good one, and the "uncorked" organization usually has one.
Hey, easytraveler- is that the current issue of Sunset that has the comparison? I'd like to see that!

Thanks everyone -I think with the recommendations we will find a few things to do and some nice resturants to dine at.
We will have a car and we are staying @ the Marriott in Napa Valley.

It says "August, 2012" - almost all blue cover featuring "The Hidden West".
Isn't Sunset one of the mags that does different versions for different states? If so, mine is the California version.
The comparison categories were: "Wine, Tasting Rooms, Innovation, Food, Stay, Accessibility, and Play Factor".
