Napa Valley

What wineries in Napa and Sonoma present the best attractions for a reasonable price?

It will help if you clarify what you mean by "best attractions" (what are you looking for in addition to wine?)

Are you only interested in going to wineries or do certain wines appeal to you more than others? Are there types of wines you'd like to be sure and taste? What are you looking for in your wine tasting/winery experience?

Reasonable is a relative term. Is $20 for a tour and tasting reasonable or too high?

I suggest that you invest in a good guidebook of the area. There are *tons* of wineries, with varying prices for tastings/tours. Some have interesting buildings/grounds/etc. For example, the Hess Collection has a large collection of contemporary art you can tour for free. But without knowing what you're interested in, it's hard to make a rec.

Some 'best attractions' at wineries really don't have a price at all until you actually want to taste some wine or go on a tour.

Beside the excellent wine offered at Ferrari-Carano we also enjoy the beautiful gardens.

Although a bit remote (at the top of Mt. Veeder) Hess Winery has a terrific two level art gallery with a Frank Stella collage. Good wine, too.

I am not sure what types of attractions they have, but August Briggs and Frank Family have complimentary tastings. Something else that is not a winery is DiRosa Preserve, art gallery, is free on Wednesdays but you have to make advance reservations - but no food or beverage allowed and none for sale either. Has anyone been to these places? I just found them researching for our October trip, have not been there yet.
