Napa/Sonoma Suggestions?
 

Hi all,
I will be heading to the area the first weekened of October. I will be in San Francisco the following week for a conference, but am heading up to the Napa/Sonoma area the Friday before. I will be traveling alone, and this is my first trip to California. Can anyone recommend a moderately priced hotel in that area for a couple of nights? Also, any advice you all have on particular wineries or tours will be greatly appreciated! Have a great day.

Sonoma is better, less touristy and smaller crowds.

Do not stay at the Sonoma Hotel. Geyserville Inn or the Best Western Dry Creek Inn are reasonable and convenient for hitting good wineries. You may also try Camellia Inn (a B&B) in Healdsburg for friendley service and reasonable rooms. You'd better get cracking...

http://www.castellodiamorosa.com/ This is a new winery that we visited last October. It is pricey - $25 for the tour and tasting. It was interesting and a very nice winery.

We have stayed at the Sonoma Mission Inn 4 times now, our last stay for two nights this past March was very nice. There is an amazing spa there and very friendly, helpful staff. Have fun! ***kim*** ((#))

I'd certainly think you'd enjoy a B&B in Healdsburg. They are not so pricey and they are convenient to shopping, wine and restaurants. Healdsburg is located only 1.5 hrs due north of the Golden Gate bridge. Easy to get to and easy to find. Check your map and you'll see. There are a couple of motels on the edge of town if you have difficulty finding a place this time of year. I'm sure the Chamber of Commerce could fax you a list of B&B's and motels. There is also Hotel Healdsburg, which is more pricey.

We just visited the Martin Ray Winery just outside Santa Rosa. Free tour & free tasting! There were at least 12 wines on the tasting list & it was a very informative tour of both modern & old equipment.
