Napa-Sonoma on a Budget
 

My daughter & I are going to Sonoma - Napa for Mother's Day weekend. Any suggestions of where to stay on a limited budget. Also need good restaurants ideas

Don't know how "limited" you are, but it will be tough to find anything under the $150 a night range in May. In Napa you have a couple of Best Westerns, but I don't think they have any Super 8s or similar. If Napa and the town of Sonoma are your destination you could consider staying in Fairfield, more and cheaper options, and driving in for the day.
In Sonoma there is (or least was) a good Iris Pub down an alley just off the square. Also, Girl & The Fig is a nice choice.

My friends just got a Saturday night stay online at the Hawthorne Suites for less than $100 off Soscal Avenue in Napa. Not a luxury hotel, but close to the downtown restaurants and tasting rooms.

I would stongly suggest you not stay in Fairfield, IBVIVI. If you can't find any lodging that fits within your budget and consequently need to stay outside of Napa/Sonoma I would check out the Holiday Inn Express in Vacaville (which is just north of Fairfield). Family members stayed there for some nights last week and were very happy with it, breakfast not "great" but acceptable. They got a good price via HotWire, I believe their room was $65.00 per night plus 12% hotel tax. I had checked it out on TripAdvisor's and the comments were good. My family said the hotel was very clean and the mattress was wonderful. The decor not fancy but comfortable. The hotel staff was quite pleasant and helpful. Comments that seemed to be the consensus on TA.

Have you checked out the Embassay Suites in Napa? I have no idea what they are charging but I have known people that have managed to get a reasonable rate.

Your Mother's Day weekend with your daughter sounds wonderful.

Check out lodging in Windsor. Its 5 miles south of Healdsburg and has some chain hotels that are budget. That being said, you could also check out VRBO listings. Having your own little kitchen can save you money on meals. That's www.vrbo.com and type in wine country, California, or Russian River, etc.

- St Helena Hotel

Try the city of Napa. Recently we inquired at Avia Hotel (new) and the mid-week rate was $120/ night and it is very nice.

- Gott's Tray Gourmet (formerly known as Taylor's Automatic Refresher) in Napa and St. Helena
- The Oxbow Public Market in Napa has several food stalls with seating that are very good

- Giuni's Deli (St. Helena)
- Bouchon Bakery (Yountville)
- Sunflower Cafe (Sonoma)
- Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant (Napa)
