I myself am planning a whirlwind birthday 2-day extravanganza for our first time in Sonoma in November.

My boyfriend and I visited Napa two years ago and of the many great wineries we visited - my three favorite experiences were the seated, appt. only tasting at Swanson Vineyards, the Opus One tour and the breathtaking facility, and the blending class at Joseph Phelps (great wines!).

The key lesson I learned was not to try to do tours at every singe place and reserve that for the ones who offer something a truly special tour (Opus One).

Oh yeah, and as a total sidenote, I have to gush about the fact that we got in to French Laundry for my big bday dinner!!!! (We didn't get in last time.) What a nerveracking experience that was. I can hardly wait.
