Now that the crush at the Napa vineyards is over the traffic is not bad at all. Once the rains start here, which they did last week (first rain in 6 months) the tourists stop coming and you have an easy time getting around. I live near Bodega Bay (skip it at all costs; its gotten touristy without charm), work in Santa Rosa, and have friends elsewhere. If you only have four days, I think you need to skip the coast and do any two of these: Napa, Sonoma or Healdsburg.If you like architecture, then the wineries of Napa are best. If you are interested in California history then Sonoma has, in addition to restaurants and wineries, some interesting sites from the days that the Spanish govererned California. If you are interested in literature, then the Sonoma area Valley of the Moon has Jack London's home and ranch; very interesting (I covet both the house he was building that burnt, and the house he did live in, in which you see his collections from his voyages, and beauriful little easy hikes. Healdsburg is just a sophisticated shopping and dining town. The March 2002 issue of Gourmet magazine has a good article on Sonoma and the Valley of the Moon.
