Villagio or Harvest Inn? Has anyone stayed at any or both of these? Which do you prefer?

Hi allison! We have stayed at the Harvest Inn (St. Helena) and really enjoyed out time there. The grounds are gorgeous! Koi ponds, bridges, two swimming pools, jacuzzi.

We had a fireplace room near the back that was nice and the breakfast the next am was very nice, served in a pretty room with french doors opening out to the vineyards. :D

They used to be in the Entertainment Book, so we received a 50% discount on our room rate, but last year they pulled out of the book.

The Villagio (Yountville) looks very nice and we're considering switching from the Yountville Inn (which is very nice,btw) to the Villagio just because they have spa treatments there. Any other question, feel free to ask. ***kim** ((f))

You didn't ask about the Lavendar, but you might look into it. It is located in Yountville. We needed a place to stay rather spur of the moment a couple of years ago and most places were booked. One inn suggested Lavendar and we really liked it. May not be as plush as what you are looking for, and it is right in town, not woodsy, but the food is good, our room was not elegant, but French country-ish. We had a fireplace and a nice bath. The real perk was a jacuzzi on our private porch. Think Lavendar is part of a group of inns but for the life of me I can't remember the name. Hope this helps.

thanks for the info. We have decided to go with the Villagio. Any other info about Yountville - St. Helena, Calistoga - favorite places - would be great!

Yountville: Bistro Jeanty and Domaine Chandon! ((y))

St. Helena: Terra and Tra Vigne for dinner. Freemark Abbey, very quaint, small boutique winery with "killer" whites. :D

Calistoga: The Wappo Bar & Bistro for lunch, I would be interested in hearing opinions about Stomp (the restaurant that replaced Catahoula's.) ***kim*** ((f))

The French Laundry is also located in Yountville. Don't know if it's really worth the price, but we loved it and looked at it as sort of a do-it-once sort of place. That's the reason we needed a place to stay, spur of the moment. The Villagio looks very nice...it is the place we wanted to stay but couldn't get a room.
Yountville is very small and walkable. There is a little general store across the street. Think they sell picnic supplies there. Of course, going down the road to the Oakville Grocery is fun, too.

Villagio's great and their spa is awesome...I had the best facial of my life there and it was pretty economically priced considering you're in wine country and all. However, I'd recommend staying at their sister property which is literally right next door since their rooms have the big sunken jacuzzis (Villagio rooms have only soaking tubs). You can still go to their spa (which is what I did).

All rooms have a fireplace, very comfy beds/duvets, private patio/terrace, brkfrst. in the morning.

Restaurants - I agree with Kimamom on Terra, Tra Vigne and Wappo's (if you go to the latter, you must try their famous chile rellenos with pomegranate-walnut sauce).

Just returned last night from one of our mini-vacations to our neighbor Napa.
We go over about 4X a year for 3-5 days
and I am there nearly weekly.
Best dinner restaurant this trip was
Martini House in St. Helena. For lunch we usually go to Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen, but went to Market-also
in St. Helena-quite scrumptuos!
Because it was 75 degrees out (on Feb 3rd!!!!)we took the opportunity to sit outside for lunch one day, and had a fine meal
in the garden right next to a creek
at the Calistoga Inn. Another delicious dinner was had in Calistoga at the All Seasons.
In Yountville, I like Hurleys, Bouchon
or Bistro Don Giovanni.
In Napa town proper Celadon and Pearl are real
gems. So many people are missing Napa town-I guess we'll have to keep it's
secrets to ourselves!

Kim, Thanks for the info on the new inn from Four Sisters. I have loved their other locations. Had a brain blip earlier and couldn't remember the name!

I like to stay at the Eight Sisters properties. They are twice as good. :O)

I'm glad razzleD didn't say "we liked eveything BUT the company we kept for lunch at Cindy's". >:D<

Vintage. They are both on Washington in Yountville.
