Napa Lodging
I am planning a 3 day anniversary trip to Napa Valley. I currently have reservations at the Vintage Inn, but they are pricey. There is availability at the napa River Inn - seems to have similar amenities as other luxury resorts, but I can't find much info. Has anyone stayed there? Is the Vintage Inn worth the add'l $100+ per night? Other places I am considering include the Inn at Southbridge, Milliken Creek Inn, or Forrest Manor. Thank you for any suggestions!

Millikin Creek Inn is really super and gets very good reviews but IMO price is a bit much but I guess that depends on your viewpoint<BR>I really like the Napa River Inn. It is a recently renovated grain mill of 1874 vintage. Renovations were done in the style of a mill i.e.- lots of metal<BR>on the outside but rooms are very comfortable and plushy..<BR>One of its BEST features is coffee shop on premises-"Sweetie Pies"<BR>best lemon scones in the whole valley. Recently opened in same building is a "market"--gourmet<BR>deli, daily wine tasting with snacks ,<BR>view of the river from a large deck & I hear soon gondola rides on the river.<BR>There is some demolition going on across the river (flood control project) so if you like to watch heavy machinery during the week days, this is the place for you---Just kidding..<BR>Hope this helps---<BR>I do think it has several comments on the Rant & Rave section of this site...

Went to Sweetie Pies last night looking for those lemon scones, they were closed! We did have a nice cobbler (probably from Sweetie Pies!) at the Caledon next store. What a wonderful environment on the patio. we were seated right by the outdoor fireplace and the service was wonderful. $8.50 for the cobbler, but it was big enough for two!<BR>we had dinner earlier at downtown oe's. sloppy Joe and Caesar salad. they were ok, but the (shrimp)fish tacos and turkey club are much better.

Stayed in Napa in August with my husband at La Belle Epoque. Would highly recommend it.....Wonderful place - very nice. Reasonable. And great breakfast

The Vintage Inn is very nice - but we prefer the Yountville Inn. Just down the street but newer and nicer. If the<BR>price is the same I would go for the <BR>Yountville Inn.

I would also recommend Yountville Inn. We loved our stay there. Great expanded continental breakfast and afternoon tea. Very convenient location. Walking distance to great restaurants.

The Napa River Inn told me that the best prices for their rooms is via Travelocity or one of the other websellers. It seems they buy up all the standard rooms, none of which are available for direct reservations at the Inn. I am doing this over Thanksgiving, and if not too late you can ask me how it went. All rooms, including the discounted ones, come with a full breakfast in the charming coffee shop, where we have eaten before and walked away happy. Since this is not our Honeymoon, an added advantage to us is that the Inn is walking distance from the movies.
