Napa hotels with children
 

Can anyone recommend a good place to stay with two teenagers. We are looking for something that will have a nice pool and in an area that is a good base for touring the area

This will be the end of our stay in California and we will probably be ready to just relax and enjoy the hotel and area around it

I also wanted to ask recommendations on hot air balloon rides in the area. If you have done one do you recommend the company you used?

Check out the either the Yountville Inn or the Villagio in Yountville, both have nice pool areas, you can walk to restaurants from here. The Villagio has just completed a new spa, also. Have fun! ***kim*** ((f))

When are you traveling? And do you know which town you want to stay in? And what is your price range?

Villagio and other high priced hotels are going to run about $300 - 500 per night depending on season. These are wonderful places to stay but you don't see too many kids there.

An alternative to the high priced hotel rooms in the Valley is the River Pointe Resort in Napa. These are modular units that feature a couple of bedrooms and a kitchen. It is right next to the Napa River and has a very nice pool. It's located in the heart of Napa and is half the price of a place like Villagio. And it's family friendly.

Another option would be some of the resorts in Calistoga which have wonderful mineral pools that are nice all year. There are many good places and in all price ranges. You can find out more info on Tripadvisor:

Well I'm thinking the Napa Marriott might be right for you. The pool is shaped like a whale.

We are traveling July 24 and would like to stay about 4 nights in the area. The first night will be a long travel day so basically we will have 3 full days in the area

Marriott and Embassy suites haven't gotten very good reviews on trip advisor. I looked at the Yountville Inn but it looks too much like a motel room from the photos, maybe the photos don't do it justice?

The Villagio and Vintage Inn are pricing at $425 plus tax, we would like to keep it at below $400 including tax

We are not sure of the actual city we would like to be based out yet as we are in the early planning stages and why I asked for some recommendations. We do know we want to be in the Napa valley area vs Sonoma as that is where most of the vineyards my husband wants to visit are

While researching we have come across two properties that look nice. One is the Homewood suites in Fairfield which seems to be a little out of the way but is new. We have never stayed at a homewood suite and not sure what they are like. The other was the Napa Valley Lodge

How old are your kids? Will they be staying at the hotel while you tour wineries?

The kids will be 14 (almost 15) & 12 at that time, they will not be staying at the hotel on their own. My husband will probably do some tastings on his own and we would like to tour at least one winery

We are planning on a hot air balloon ride one day and the wine train if they have the family nights during our stay

Riverpointe is showing sold out during some of the nights we plan on being there but thank you for the suggestion, I have bookmarked it for future reference

July of next year and places are already sold out? Wow that amazes me. Bet there will be plenty of cancellations over the next year.

We were very happy at La Residance (spelling?)it is sort of like a large B & B, the pool area is small but very pretty and we did see a few children there. Sometimes this hotels gets mixed reviews on this board, but we were very happy there.

Debsnj - thanks but that is out of our price range. The rooms that will accommodate 4 are $600 and up

I was going to suggest Napa Valley Lodge. It is on the other end of Yountville, but the whole town is just a few blocks long. Yountville is central and has tons of places to eat and the teens can rent bikes and explore.

The tooms at Younville Inn can be very tomblike.
Also NVL includes breakfast and their pool is quiet and right in the vines.

Space-wise it is worth it to get one of their suite rooms on the ground floor to walk right out to the pool directly.

OK, I only asked because Fairfield is not close to Napa...

Either way, I definitely recommend against staying in Fairfield. It would almost be like staying in San Jose to visit San Francisco.

The website shows that it is 9 miles from Downtown Napa but after further investigation it shows that to get to the Mondavi vineyard, for example, it is 20 miles away

Oh my gosh, somehow I remember it being quite reasonable, but we went 3 years ago.

I get 32 miles, which is even worse!

The Indian Springs Resort in Calistoga may work for you. The lodging is in little bungalows with a small kitchen, living area, etc. There is a huge Olympic size mineral water pool that is open to resort guests until midnight. They also have a very nice spa there. ***kim*** ((#))
