Napa - Hotel Suggestion
 

Two sisters thinking about going on a long weekend to Napa. Does anyone have a hotel suggestion? Something nice, close to the wineries, but not too expensive. Thanks!

In Yountville-the Napa Valley Railway Inn. These are old railroad cars (which are huge and you get the whole one) and old cabooses that are on a little bit of railroad track. In 2002 the price for the railroad car was 75$ a night. There is a nice restaurant in a very pretty setting right next door and some nice little shops. The car is big enough with 2 queen beds and a sitting area that you could share. Not extravagent, but clean, and a novelty. I don't know if they have a website all I have is there phone number from back then. 707-944-2000. Wineries are all close by.

Go to the Sonoma valley instead. Much more pleasant.

If you bid on Priceline, you can get the Marriott in Napa for somewhere around $55 plus taxes and fees.

The Marriott is located at the south end of the Napa "wine road", which goes all the way up to Calistoga and beyond.

If you don't know how to bid on Priceline, come back here and ask. This is the forum that taught me how to bid on Priceline and save a bundle on hotel rooms. This is a very good Marriott to stay in.

Nearby is a Hilton Garden Inn. I've never stayed there, but the Garden Inns are generally pretty nice "family" suite hotels.

If you decide to stay near the Sonoma Valley instead of Napa, you can also get good PL rates. Our son lives in Santa Rosa, and when we visit we usually get the Doubletree in Rohnert Park for $50/night/double. If you bid at the 3* level in this area, you'll get the Doubletree, Hilton in Santa Rosa, or the Sheraton in Petaluma.

In Calistoga, there is the BW Steveson Manor and a Comfort Suites that are reasonably priced.
In Sonoma, the Sonoma Valley Inn is really nice and walking distance to the square. The Hotel El Dorado is also reasonable and right on the square. I had reservations here for this month, but changed to the Sonoma Mission Inn where I found a great rate on Orbitz. :)

In St. Helena, check into the El Bonita Hotel, a small little motor-inn with great rates. Cheers! ***kim*** ((f))
