Suzie, HiddenNapa will tell you about the many free tastings when you take his tour. I guess someone thinks they have found a way around the no advertising rules.

its weird -- Fodors nuked HiddenNapa -- but left his posts behind. Usually, when a screen name is zapped, the posts are zapped too.

re the topic of this thread: Just another reason I prefer Amador County, the Delta, and Santa Cruz county. They are like Napa was 30 years ago - good wines, free tasting, and you actually get to talk to the winemakers.

Mild advertizing vs. blant advertising? :))

Weird - someone called HiddenNapaJeepTours gets zapped, and immediately someone called NapaJulie registers and posts to the same thread ..:?

Suzie Sep 22nd, 2009 02:31 PM

LOL janis then you go to Hidden Napa Jeep Tours and their email starts with julie@....

Doesn't exactly take sherlock holmes does it? ;)

LoveItaly Sep 22nd, 2009 02:32 PM

I noticed that too, and I suspect that Fodor's probably advised HiddenValleyJeepTours they were being deleted as they were advertising and that NapaJulie consequently registered under the new name? I don't know but that is what think. And Dayenu, I too am surprised that HVJT's posts remain.

And janisj, oh to have Napa Valley as it was thirty years ago!

Agree with janisj about the other wine areas in CA. I know she is a recent convert to Delta wines :)

Suze: you were so close and you didn't swing our way for winetasting and a mini GTG?

MY

hey MichelleY~ my friends had me ON THE RUN

NapaJulie Sep 23rd, 2009 07:13 AM

Sab, Suzie and Janis, I zapped myself when a member kindly referred the rules to me, and I then set up a user account that has nothing to do with my business. I jumped on without reading them, which was my mistake. I did post the wineries above that have not charged in the past, so I don't think you have to take my tours to find them. They are all wonderful, small family wineries with great wines and are off the beaten track. I would rather tour these types of wineries and support the families that own them or the families that have been farming here for several generations than spend my money at the corporate owned wineries. No need to pound on the new kid, I get it.

Delta and Foothill wines are really gooooooood.

Suzie Sep 23rd, 2009 07:47 AM

I don't think I pounded on you. If you think that then you will never survive Fodors.

Welcome.

It would not have bothered me for you to have kept your original name. Also when we switch names we ususlly let others know.

Do a web search for free wine tasting coupons and you will probably find some that are 2 for the price of 1 and maybe even a free tasting. Napa wine tasting fees range from $5 to $35 per person.

These 2 sites have coupons you can print yourself:

Have fun!
