Napa, First Time
 

4-6 of us are planning a weekend in Napa, this Labor Day weekend. Many of the resorts are already sold out, not to mention had price tags close to $400 per night. We would be happy staying in Yountville or St. Helena, since they came highly reccommended. Can anyone out there suggest a B&B or small Inn, even condo or townhouse where we could stay for closer to $200 per night? We are up for either individual rooms (like a B&B) or a 2 Bedoom place to share. PLEASE HELP!!!

I stayed in Calistoga at the Golden Haven Hot Springs and Resort last week. We enjoyed what they advertise as their ultimate getaway which included room with jacuzzi, mud bath, blanket wrap and massage. The place was a neatly remodeled and well kept 1950 style motorcourt just minutes from mainstreet Calistoga which offered shopping, dining and other lodgings. We did a two day(one night) run through Napa while we were visiting San Fran for a week. If we were to return we would do at least two nights again in Calistoga. Visit their website www.goldenhaven.com and don't hesitate to try some of the spa offerings if not there then in some of the day spas in Calistoga!!!

Glad to read Inkspots note: can't help, but I too am starting to plan a trip to Napa for September, and noticed some places already booked over Labor Day. Does anyone know if the high season ends after that? Or is it still busy through September due to the harvest? Should we look at the beginning of October instead?

Well, I probably thought of that already, which is why I'm using this message board, not to sound condescending

We also have stayed at Golden Haven in Calistoga and had an AWFUL experience. It may have been the worst accomodation experience that I have ever had, not to be dramatic.
We loved the River Terrace Inn in Napa. It's a little larger than what you're looking for, but not a big chain hotel. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the bathroom is great. And the price is right. www.riverterraceinn.com

inkspot, check out the Yountville Inn in Yountville. The rooms there are very nice, spacious and the property is lovely. The rooms go for around $200/night. It is located very close to Domaine Chandon. www.yountvilleinn.com Have a wonderful time in the wine country! ***kim*** ((f))

Kimamom, thanks but The Yountville Inn was the first place I looked and the rooms have gone up a bit. They cheapest one was $375

Try the "rustic" Railway Inn in Y'ville or the Bordeaux House, also in Y'ville.

All within "staggering distance" to all the great restaurants/bars.

Or try Priceline. Their 3 or 4 star hotel is usually the Napa Marriott or the old Embassy Suites. We've got them for under $100 on occasion.
