Rutherford Hill winery has tables with nice views of the valley set among the olive trees. It's our favorite place to picnic.

We enjoy V Sattui because the deli/BBQ/gourmet food is so good. We also enjoy the wine. They have some picnic tables but due to its popularity it can get crowded (or festive depending on the time of year and your perspective). The location is not so gorgeous, but did I mention that the food and wine are really good.

Pine Ridge Winery along the Silverado Trail has a nice little picnic area. Not crowded.

Chateau Potelle is on the top of a mountain about 5 minutes from Yountville. Very pretty, low-key and nice setting for picnic (which they encourage). Nice dogs too! Not a well-known stop so not as crowded as some.

V. Sattui does have plenty of tables and a well-supplied deli.

We like Hanna Winery in the Alexander Valley. Small family run winery only 2 picnic tables but great views, buy wine they give you the glasses to use. Go north out of Calistoga it will be on your right - buy picnic goodies at the Oakville Grocery store in Rutherford.
