Napa Bed & Breakfast
 

We are planning a trip in September to Napa Valley and we read in the Fodor's California book to beware of some "seedy" areas in Napa. We would like to stay at the Stahlecker House which is located on 1042 Easum Drive in Napa, CA. Does anyone know if this is a good section of Napa?

Hi Brian, You must understand that the city of Napa is in the southernmost part of the Napa Valley and is not really considered to be in the Wine Country. Therefore, if your hotel is in Napa (city), I would rethink whether it is really where I would want to stay to tour the Napa Valley Wine Region. Don't know the hotel, but think you would be better in Yountville or St. Helena or Calistoga in the Napa Valley.

First of all I will check out the area on Easum Drive and let you know in few days. Also others you might be interested. <BR>Also to kam--Napa is most certainly a great part of the Napa Valley Wine region. There are vineyards all around and Napa is a REAL town. Maybe not as glitzy or touristy as Yountville and St. Helena.the latter currently complaining about the tourists clogging up their streets in the summer!!!! Accomadations are certainly not as expensive as the "up-valley" locations. The valley is especially beautiful in Sept. when the grape vines are turning fall colors.

Kelly is right. <BR>Napa is a great town, with more well-maintained Victorian homes than any other place in the region. It also has several great restaurants, both downtown and near the river. <BR>While it may have been true twenty years ago that the city of Napa had turned its back on the wine country, that is no longer true. Napa is now a vibrant part of the wine country, bordered by vineyards. <BR>The Stahlecker House is in a "nice" place of town, close to back road routes to the wineries.

The B & B on Easum Drive is wonderful. Cul-de-sac in isloated residential area. Safe, lots of parking, about one mile from the highway (29)"Up-valley" Yountville 11 miles up the highway, St. Helena another 10 miles. Wineries all along the highway,Places to eat, all prices. all types. <BR>. If you are into fractory stores==1/2 mile from B & B Also great Coffee shop and grocery store-deli -if you turn right as you come out of Easum Drive-go a mile,shops on left. <BR>"Downtown" Napa is about a mile (east) after you cross over highway 29. Small mall with good visitors center also a wonderful cafe==Gillwoods: open for breakfast and lunch and dinners on weekends. Best of luck....
