Nantucket Take-out Options

Hi there, my husband and I and our 18 month old are heading to Nantucket this weekend. We're staying at the Boat Basin cottages and looking for some dining options. Unfortunately, our toddler is at the stage where he won't really sit still in a high-chair and eating out can be less than pleasant. We still want to have an authentic Nantucket experience and great food. Does anyone have any recommendations for good takeout or picnic options so we could still enjoy some great meals on our deck? Any other recommendations for fun with a toddler are welcome as well. Thanks!

Hi Anna:

You could try Sayles Seafood on Washington Street for a takeout clambake. Here's their website http://www.saylesseafood.com/ and it looks like you can get other dinners, too. I've just had their lobster rolls so I can't vouch for their take-out dinners but I've heard they're good. It would certainly be fun to eat lobster on your deck!

I appreciate your hesitancy to take your son out, but there are some casual spots near you that you might consider. The Gazebo on Straight Wharf has outdoor seating and is very lively. Also, Easy Street on Steamboat Wharf is very casual and always packed with kids (I've been there mostly for lunch but they also serve dinner). There are other casual take-out places on Steamboat Wharf (known to the locals as "the Strip") such as Stubby's and Walter's (good deli sandwiches). Enjoy your weekend visit.

We liked the Even Keel Cafe; I know they have takeout as well.

You can check out other restaurants on www.nantucket.net.
