Any suggestions on where to stay?

We visit Nantucket one-three times every year and have discovered many very nice, moderately priced, inns that are well located with terrific service. You'll find that lodging on Nantucket is not only quite pricey, the value for the dollar is much lower than elsewhere because of the supply and demand and the popularity of the island as a destination. My recommendation would be to check the Fodor's resources right here on this website. You might also want to do a web search for Nantucket Inns. The visitor's office is another good resource. Their lodging booklet is one of the most descriptive I've ever seen. Be advised that many are no longer willing to share their specific "insider" recommendations. It's one thing to publicly recommend a favorite "find" discovered after years of trial and error and expense, only to not be able to get near it yourself ever again or see the prices escalate and the service acquire "attitude". This, typically, with no thanks whatsoever from the folks who've benefited from the advice. But, I am surely not inclined to provide my favorite inns on Nantucket to a bogus post.

What an attitude you have, lady!! <BR>To have the gall to write and basically say, Yeah Nantucket sure is great, I go all the time but I'm sure as heck not goinna tell you where I stay...go search the archives and find out on your own. <BR>So what was the point of writing your post? Jeb: Your "attitude" is precisely why this previously invaluable forum has become irrevocably corrupted lately. Prior to all the "just jerking you all off" inquiries, and the plethora of phony and bogus screen names/e-mail addresses (and I mean insipid and not the least amusing), there was an enormous amount of SHARING going on here. I'm not the one with "attitude", but rather full of invaluable insider information. Those of us with highly recommendable tips have acquired same through years and years of trial and error with considerable expense of time and money. Previously, I was more than delighted to share same with all. Lately I'm NOT, because: no one bothers to say "thanks" or report on how the plans they followed worked out. Clearly, you just do not understand that you are the one with "attitude". I KNOW where to go. I KNOW, from experience, the best places to stay where one is assured of charm, comfort, pleasing decor, friendly service, at affordable prices. Do explain, Jeb, why anyone would respond to a ridiculous bogus inquiry with valuable advice? In my experience, sharing same often results in the provider (restaurants, inns, hotels) acquiring attitude, hiking their prices, eliminating their personal services, and you're otherwise no long able to book there yourself, in spite of having ben the catalyst in all of this. You are SO right, Jeb, hon. We'll be going elsewhere. So, you can be most pleased with yourself! One can only wonder what your contribution is...Well, WHAT? I'm guessing, sadly, that this forum will be reduced to this such nonsense. As you suggest, Jeb, I'll "flaunt" my ever so valuable tips and recommendations elsewhere.

So the point of your second post was that you no longer offer advice because people don't write back to say thank you and praise you for your wonderful helpful suggestions? Therefore you're not willing to offer your experiences anymore? That's what your post says. <BR> <BR>This topic was recently discussed here. If you require pats on the back to stave off bitterness then you're going to be sorely disappointed. Most of the regular posters here who offer advice several times a week never get a thank you but they don't whine about it. They do it because they enjoy helping others, not for the deference and praise. You should think about why you're here.
