N.C.Family Beach Trip
We are a family of 4 (2boys ages 10 & 13) looking for any info on beach towns --nothing too tacky. We are looking at June11-18.Tried vbro.com and most the places are for groups of 10 or more.A nice home on the beach would be great, but SO many towns!!What is the most family friendly, but not too cheesy! THANKS

The Outer Banks towns of Duck and Corolla would fit what you describe. I'd act fast, you're running out of time to rent a house for June. We have always rented through Twiddy Realtors (twiddy.com). Good luck!

I read your post again after I answered and overlooked that you're a small group. There are a couple of condo places in Duck that would work for a family. Generally the houses are at least 4 bedrooms. We've stayed at Duck Blind Villas which are 3 bedrooms, ocean front with a pool. Nothing particularly fancy, but definitely adequate.

Most of the homes being built now (and in the last five years) are huge. Ones accommodating 10 are the small ones. Places holding 18-25 are becoming the norm now in Corolla and the northern beach communities.
KathyK's correct, choices for oceanfront homes in June are going to be limited at this point. I agree, look in Duck and also in Southern Shores (just south of Duck). SS is entirely residential. Nothing cheesey about the retail in Duck.
Twiddy.com and Southernshores.com (not just SS properties BTW) both have search features which will show you photos of the actual properties.
Good luck!

Look further down the coast (and more accessible--don't know where you are coming from). Ocean Isle, Holden Beach, and Sunset Beach in NC have nice places. In SC you could look at NORTH Myrtle Beach, and then further south of MB at Surfside, Garden City or Litchfield. For an oceanfront house at this late date for those times, you will have to be very lucky.

Have you thought of Emerald Isle? It is a little known secret just south of the Outer Banks, right below Morehead City. Lots of vacationers from Raliegh go there. Plenty to occupy your children as well.

Hello mjks~~We live in the Midwest, but have a beach house in the Outer Banks (Corolla). It is much too large for your family's needs, but check out www.atlanticrealty-nc.com for lots of listings in Corolla, Duck, Nags Head, and that area.
