If you want to stay near or on the water in Mystic, try www.whalersinn.com The Whaler's Inn, Steamboat Inn and Hoxie House are the only hotels on the water in Mystic. They're all owned by the same company. They also own a yacht docked there called the Valiant. They rent it out, based on availability, for boat & breakfast. www.valiantcharters.com

These can all be pricey, so if you want to spend less you can still stay close enough to Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport by staying at AmeriSuites, Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Residence Inn, Best Western Sovereign, Six Broadway Inn.

If you want to look up other hotels or B&Bs in the area, go to www.mysticmore.com for area info.

I stayed in Mystic last year and am going again for a night in August. We're staying at http://www.sixbroadwayinnmystic.com/

You might also want to consider Niantic - a friend who is from the Mystic area prefers Niantic to Mystic. Check out http://www.innharborhill.com/ - it is on the water, and I hear it has fantastic sunsets.

-KW

I just love the Old Gris (the old Griswold) in Essex. It's not on the water, but close to it and has wonderful history as well as a cozy restaurant with excellent food. Mystic is nice, but I couldn't stay any where but the Gris.
