Mystic CT Aquarium- worth it?

I am wondering if anyone has been to the Mystic Aquarium and what they thought of it. My frame of reference is the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which I thought was great, the New Orleans Aquarium, a little less interesting, and the Virginia Marine Science Museum (definitely 3rd). Just wondering if anyone can tell me the highlights or their impressions. Thanks.

We were there years ago and thought it was great! Much better than the one in NY.

Jenny,<BR> The Mystic Aquarium is definitely worth the trip. they expanded the aquarium recently adding more exhibits and attractions. In fact, I read in the paper just this past week that they're offering virtual deep sea diving. Sounds like fun!

I like the aquarium enough, but I thought Mystic Seaport Museum, just down the road, maybe a mile, a much better attraction and more educational. As an aquarium thought it as good as Boston, Baltimore, or DC. Liked the parts of it that are outdoors.

I'm not an expert but I live in CT and have seen acquariums in Mystic, Boston and Monterey. Monterey Bay was the best by far and may be the best in the US. Mystic and Boston were very similar with both offering good, interesting attractions. The cylindrical fishtank in the center comes to mind. Also, the penguin exhibit is entertaining. I don't think you will be disappointed with a day at Mystic - just don't set your sights as high as Monterey. The town of Mystic is also quite enjoyable as well with a number of good pubs and restaurants.

Thanks! I think you guys have sold me. Rb-traveler, we also have the Seaport Museum on our list, so it was good to hear postive feedback on that as well. Thanks again.
