Mystic, CT
Thanks to everyone who replied to my last post. I decided I'm just gonna stick with Mystic, CT for this trip. Really short trip - 3 days, 2 nights - just enough to check it out over my spring vacation from school.
So I'm planning to arrive March 13 in the afternoon like 2 or 3 pm. Arriving at the Amtrak station, I'm assuming there are taxis to get to the hotel, correct? That evening what would be good to do, is there a pub or restaurant nearby - nothing fancy? I'm leaving on the 15 (about 10:30 am I think). So on the 14, suggestions as to how to visit some of the major sights? I know I won't be able to do everything - the aquarium sounds fun, but I will skip it if I could see something else instead. Also is it gonna be freezing? Do they get a lot of snow, or not so much? Thanks, Greg |
Didn't realize that your trip was in March - a very odd time to visit CT. The weather might be reasonably warm - as much as 50 - or you could have a foot of snow.
Not sure what will be open and what hours at that time of year. (Just checked the winter hours for the Seaport Museum are 10 am to 4 pm). Don;t know what hotel you're at - so can;t comment on how to get around? Are you near the aquarium? Or in the town? |
I don't know if you like Casino's but there are 2 very close by. Foxwood Casino & Mohegan Sun. You might find some entertainment you like there. For dining there is a resataurant called the Steak Loft that is very good, or Alexander J's, a little bistro.

An obvious choice for dinner on a budget would be the original Mystic Pizza ... |
We are making a trip to Newport RI next month and plan to go to Mystic to spend a few hours-look around and eat lunch. I hope you will post a report when you return from your trip.

Look into Skippers Dock for dinner and Noah's for breakfast. Both are located in Stonington which is 15 minutes away.
