Calling all Mystic lovers!!

My wife and I will be spending a long weekend in Mystic from 11/3-11/6 and it will be our 1st time there. We will be staying in New London (Radisson) and will have the better part of 3 days to see, do and eat till our hearts content.

We will be hitting the aquarium, seaport, casinos and am considering the Pequot or submarine museums to satisfy our sight-seeing urges. What hasn't been fully decided upon is the eating portion. We will be eating at Big Bubba's BBQ (dinner) at Mohegan Sun (chef used to work at Virgil's in NYC....FABULOUS!!) and will certinaly hit Mystic Pizza (lunch) and intend to hit Kitchen Little (breakfast) and Seamens Inne (dinner). Are there any other restaurants (preferrably seafood) that anyone can recommend? I know that Abbot's is already closed for the season but there has to be some place nearby that serves up a damn good lobster.

Mystic Pizza is nothing special -- it's Greek style, cooked in a pan. Julia doesn't work there anymore.

There's decent clam shack, the Seaview Snack Bar, on the road leading to the seaport on the right. Nice view of the seaport from the picnic tables. Much better bet for lunch.

That's the road leading from Rt 95 to the Seaport, Greenville Ave.

Was jut in Mystic in September. All the locals said to avoid Mystic Pizza, lousy pizza and service. The Daniel Packer Inn was very good. I was in the pub which is cozy and very friendly.

I'm sorry. If I ever get to Mystic, I'm eating the pizza. It's just "one of those things". :-)

Definitely hit Mystic Pizza....the sauce is fantastic! Locals love to hate the "tourist" traps....don't know why...

We used to live in Groton, so went to Mystic Pizza every once in a while. It has been years, so have no idea how it is now, but we enjoyed it. Paul's Pasta in Groton, right on the river, was very good. Both of those museums you mentioned are very interesting.

I do tend to agree that when it comes to "Tourist Traps", you get what you get upon arrival but when you hear enough about one over the other and when given the opportunity, you do what you gotta do by contributing to the local economy even if it means sporting a new tee or hat at the end of the visit.

Keep these replies coming as I really appreciate the feedback.

My husband and I were in Mystic a couple of years ago and ate at the Steak Loft.It is a steak and seafood restaurant. It was really good and I think you might enjoy it.
